Financial Aid Options

Baptist University of Florida participates in the full range of state and federal aid programs. In addition, several other programs are offered to help students meet the cost of attending college. Financial assistance can be in the form of:

Federal Student Aid

Institutional Funds

Qualifying students may be eligible for institutional funds from a number of sources. BUF students have received aid from a number of institutions, including:

Veteran and Military Financial Aid

Baptist University of Florida welcomes veterans and military personnel and their families. Veterans Administration and Vocational Rehabilitation benefits are accepted by our institution. Tuition Assistance (TA) is also accepted by our institution. To begin this process, service members must speak with a counselor from their branch of the military. The counselor will help establish an education plan so the service member can move along to the next step of his/her personal and professional journey.

 

Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements

The federal government provides guidance on eligibility requirements for federal student loan assistance. Eligible students must:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Hold a high school diploma or general education development (GED) certificate
  • Be in good academic standing 
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment to a university or college
  • Not be delinquent on a student loan or owe a repayment or a refund on a previous student loan

How to Apply for Federal Financial Aid

To apply for federal financial aid in the form of grants, federal student loans, or work-study programs, students must complete the application process at http://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Applications must be submitted by October 1 each year. BUF recommends students apply for federal financial aid as early as possible, as more grants may be available for early applicants. Students must apply for federal financial aid and resubmit an application each year in order to qualify for federal student aid.

Next Steps

  1. After BUF has received the results of the FAFSA, the applicant will be informed of any additional forms needed to complete the process. 
  2. Students must submit all required forms to the Financial Aid Office in order to be considered for any financial aid programs. For priority consideration of state grants and institutional scholarships, a student's financial aid file must be complete 45 days prior to the beginning of the semester. 
  3. The Financial Aid Office will send each qualified student an award letter detailing the amount the student will receive in financial aid. 
  4. Each student is responsible for payment of 75% of the difference between charges and financial aid by the first day of class for the fall and spring semesters. For J-Term and summer semesters the difference between charges and financial aid must be paid in full by the first day of class.
